South West : Regional Delegation of Public Health : Open Days Launch

The Southwest regional health open days has been launched in Buea, yesterday, wednesday march, 29, 2021.

 

The regional Health Open Days which kicked off with sports walk from Molyko to the Buea Independence square ceremonial ground, will run till Friday march 31st 2023. Activities that are part of the event include: registration for universal Health coverage, free medical screening for certain health conditions, as well as donations to internally displaced persons and vulnerable populations, amongst other activities. Shedding lights on the purpose of the Regional Health open Days and activities to mark the event, the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the South West Dr Eko Eko Filbert said that, “This is called the sports walk to watch our health, it is called sports walk because sports is health, and we are advised to practice health activities. Of course, this is the launch of our open day and we are telling the population that the health open days is an activity to showcase the health potentials of the region, to bridge the gap between the vulnerable population and the health providers”.
Persons who live far in rural areas who hardly visit health centers for proper and regular checkups, the sick, persons with difficulty in getting medical access are called upon to seize the opportunity to visit Bongo square for the two days of the event and meet health officials face to face to get themselves screened and treated free. The services to be offered will comprise: registration for universal Health coverage, free medical screening for certain health conditions, as well as donations to internally displaced persons and vulnerable populations. The face-to-face exercise begins tomorrow March 30 through Friday March 31, 2023 at Bongo Square in Buea.

“The launch is for the entire southwest region; it is not only for Buea. We are Launching it in Buea because it is the head quarter. The Regional Delegation is in Buea, but we are assuring the population that it is for the whole South West. Everybody should come and benefit from these activities, to benefit from these services”.
