Dr Malachie Manaouda promised To Improve on Medical Facilities In The South Region

The minister of Public Health has promised to bring forth solutions to the medical drawbacks of the Ambam District Hospital and the Kye-Ossi Medical Centre, both located in the Vellee du Ntem Division, South Region of Cameroon.

Dr. Manaouda Malachie made the solemn promise on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Ambam District Hospital, at the end of his two days working visit in Ambam and Kye-Ossi, Cameroon’s border towns with Garbon and Equitable Guinea. As border towns that have not escaped the effectives of the COVID-19 pandemic, just like other towns of the country, the Minister of Public Health visited these towns to intensify the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the 17,732 persons diagnosed in the Ambam District Hospital, 317 texted Positive, 305 recoveries, and six deaths were recorded.

Added to this COVID-19 situation are the difficulties faced by this hospital on a daily basis. They vary between inadequate personnel, work equipment and pharmaceutical products. “The difficulties are first of all infrastructural. We also have inadequate personnel, but we are fighting hard to ensure that we can attain our objectives,” explained Sorel Ngomebe, Head of the Ambam District Hospital.

It is in this light that Dr. Manaouda Malachie made a stop at the Ambam District Hospital and the Kye-Ossi Medical Centre, where he examined the various health equipment and personnel available in this hospital before making a pronouncement on his intension of providing new equipment for the hospitals in the days ahead. “We are happy to say that they exist at least a certain number of materials. As for the problems that have been addressed to us, we have given instructions to those in charge to begin some new installations in these hospitals as from Monday,” stated the MINISANTE boss.

He also used this opportunity to congratulate the medical staff of this region for their collecting efforts put in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus. He went ahead to encourage them to massively go in for the COVID-19 vaccine, thereby encouraging the masses to do same. “We have to congratulate all these personnel because they are fighting against the coronavirus. We have spoken about the vaccination. You know vaccination is very important in this second wave of the virus. We have to go in for the vaccination because that is the only way to stop it,” the minister reiterated.

Before returning to Yaoundé, the minister boosted the moral of health personnel in these hospitals, as they were more committed in exercising their duties. They are better armed to combat he COVID-19 pandemic, and to serve patients in a more encouraging way.
